Princess Cruises went all out on the inaugural of Ocean
Princess. The food was unexpectedly good. Theme meals with large
ice carvings and fruit sculptures. Our cruise started
northward from Vancouver and spent the first day cruising through
the Inside Passage, which was fortuitous because Allen had a
slight case of seasickness and needed the day for acclimation.
Northward itinerary was most definitely superior regardless.
The trip kept getting better. In Ketchikan, we saw hundreds of
salmon struggling upstream to spawn while others were resting in
the calm parts of the streams. In Juneau, we went on a glacial
river rafting tour. In Skagway, we took the scenic train ride up
to White Pass. Finally, we watched dramatic visual and aural
calving of icebergs from glacier tips at Glacier Bay and College
Fjords.
